William Carey Rader

William Carey Rader, 86, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020.  "Bill" was born on July 28, 1934, in Marshfield, Missouri, the youngest child of Ofa and William Clay Rader.

Bill was an outstanding trombone player beginning in the fifth grade and in high school participated in the marching band and competed and performed in the community.  As an adult, he performed with the Air Force Marching Band and the North Town Concert Band in Dallas.

He graduated high school in 1952 and spent 11 years in the Air Force, where he taught jet engine mechanics.  From there, he went to Lake Pomme de Terre in Missouri, where he managed a marina before moving to Dallas, where he was a shop foreman at Pillsbury Marine for several years.  He spent the next ten years as shop foreman at Toyota of Irving.

Bill and Maewin sold their home in Grand Prairie and moved to Cedar Creek Lake in 1979.  Bill wanted to work in law enforcement, so he went to school and went to work for the Athens Police Department.  He loved the work and made lifetime friends.  Bill was the oldest man on the force as he started his "change of life" career.

We became members of First Baptist Church of Eustace, and they have become our spiritual family so we could grow in God's love.  We are greatly blessed to be part of God's family.

In March 1986, Bill was appointed to finish the term of the Precinct Five Constable, who passed away, and he was re-elected two more terms.  In this position, he patrolled and answered calls, also assisting the officers as needed in Malakoff, Trinidad, Cross Roads, Caney City, Star Harbor, and Log Cabin.  He was the Officer of the Justice of the Peace Court Precinct Five and served civil process.  Bill's department worked lake patrol on Cedar Creek Lake, enforcing all local and state laws on the water, including D.W.I. and drugs.

Bill's love for horses was also important.  He trained to work security at Mardi Gras and was part of the Sheriff’s pose.  For fun, he showed Peruvian Paso's in competition for La Hacienda Las Robles Ranch.  He loved to trail ride with his friends in the mountains of New Mexico.  He also loved being Uncle Sam at the 4th of July picnic at the Ranch.

Bill retired in 1996 to pursue more of the things he loved.

Bill leaves behind his wife of 50 years Maewin Rader; children William Douglas Rader, Charles Alan Webster, Daryl Roy Webster and wife Susan Dianne Webster, Timothy Clay Rader and wife Evelyn Jada Duncan Rader, Sherri Rader Price; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many lifelong friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother Ofa Rader, father William Clay Rader; sister Carolyn Rader Spears; and daughter Jamie Lynn Rader Markwood.
