William "Bill" Taylor, 70, passed away on February 5, 2024, in Athens, Texas. He was born on December 13, 1953, at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, to parents William A. and Doris Lillian (Brien) Taylor.
Bill had a magnetic personality that was both endearing and playful. Lovingly described as a “jackass,” his dear mother fondly called him by that nickname throughout his life. This unique quirk only added to his charm and was a testament to his ability to find humor in every situation. Throughout his years, Bill was immersed in the world of machinery. As a dedicated machinist, he displayed exceptional craftsmanship and skill in everything he created.
However, there was more to Bill than his work. He had a zest for life that was simply infectious. One of his greatest joys was spending time with friends, creating lasting memories together. In his youth, he took pleasure in surfing the waves of Hawaii – a passion so strong that he would often catch waves before attending church on Sunday mornings. Bill's mischievous nature extended beyond his chosen hobbies as well. He found delight in "aggravating" those around him, always knowing how to bring smiles to their faces. On weekends, you could often find him out playfully hitting golf balls while sharing hearty laughs with friends.
Tantalizing flavors always intrigued Bill's taste buds, but nothing could compare to his love for Chinese food, seaweed wraps, and black licorice. Amongst Bill's interests were also simpler pleasures such as indulging in the newspaper comics section. They brought forth laughter and enjoyment during moments of quiet relaxation – a cherished pastime that brightened his days. Bill will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William and Doris Taylor.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Kari Taylor of Eustace, TX; granddaughter, Staci Hurt of Athens, TX; great- granddaughter, Landry Kate Carter of Athens, TX; great-granddaughter, Everly Reign Red of Athens, TX; granddaughter, Kortne Nicole Wilson of Poquoson, VA; great-grandson, Kashton Williams of Poquoson, VA; brother, James Taylor and wife Shirley of Barton MS; 2 nieces and 1 nephew, as well as many other friends and family members.
