Wanda Jean Vent

June 3, 1955 — March 4, 2025

Frisco, Texas

Wanda Jean Vent was born June 3, 1955 in Dallas, TX and passed peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. She was the daughter of Austin Lee, Jr. and Joan Modean Briggs Vent.

During her childhood, Wanda enjoyed camping on the Arkansas family property and attending the Aley Texas picnic with her grandpa.

After receiving her master’s degree in library science from Texas Woman’s University, Wanda embarked on a long and fruitful professional journey. She began her career at Hunt Oil Company as a special librarian in the petroleum industry. From there she began what would be a thirty-five year career with the City of Richardson. She served the public for many years as a librarian at the Richardson Public Library. From there she moved into the world of IT to become a network administrator. Wanda touched the lives of so many employees in the City of Richardson and retired in 2018 after thirty-five years of loyal and dedicated service.

After retiring, Wanda used her talents as an accomplished genealogist to research her family history. Wanda was a proud fifth generation Texan. She researched and documented her family history back to the 1600s and discovered she had patriot ancestors who fought and served in the Revolutionary War. She was a presumptive member of The Daughter’s of the American Revolution as well as a member of The Daughter’s of the Republic of Texas.

Wanda’s two favorite hobbies were bowling and quilting. She began bowling in 1980 at Don Carter’s All-Star Lanes where she bowled on the same team, The Buffoons, for 43 years until the alley closed. She was also a self-taught and creative quilter. She was a generous person who shared her quilting with close friends and family making quilts and crocheting blankets as gifts for babies of her friends.

Wanda was a wonderful friend and would do anything to help those who needed her.

Wanda attended Texas Woman’s University and obtained her undergraduate in May 1977 and graduate degree in December 1980.

Wanda is survived by her sister, Andrea Lee Vent, her brothers, Samuel Wayne and sister-in-law Sharon Anne Kuhn Vent, and Steven Lynn Vent. Nephews Andrew Wayne Vent and wife Amanda, Shane Kody Vent and great nieces Isabella Jade Vent, Aurora Skye Vent and great nephew Andrew Jayce Vent.

Burial will take place in the Kemp Cemetery next to her parents. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Austin Lee, Jr. and Joan Modean Briggs Vent, maternal grandparents Charlie Robert Irving and Nora Lee Moody Briggs and paternal grandparents Austin Lee Vent and Bessie Estelle Greenlee Vent and great niece Sophia Michelle Vent.

Wanda expressed that she would like everyone attending her service wear purple, her favorite color.
