Vida Polley, age 79, passed away on March 24, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. She was born on August 18, 1945, in Dallas, Texas to parents Henry and Lucille (Hodge) Tanner.
Vida graduated from Wilmer Hutchins High School, where she was a proud member of the National Honor Society. She was a woman of many talents and a career marked by dedication and hard work. Vida retired from Merrill Lynch and later from Walmart, where she was well-regarded for her commitment and kindness. She also held a realtor license, showcasing her versatility in various fields.
Vida was known for her sweet and compassionate nature. Friends and family will remember her as a selfless, comforting person who always had a kind word or gesture for everyone she met. A testament to her caring spirit is found in the pride she took in her family. The birth of her son, Sam, and the adoption of her son, Taylor, were two of her proudest accomplishments, filling her life with joy and fulfillment.
An important part of Vida's life was her partnership with her husband, Frank. Together, they opened a sign-making and office supply business, a venture that brought them joy and a sense of accomplishment. Life was colorful for Vida, who enjoyed hobbies such as crocheting, embroidery, and crafting. She also had a flair for making jewelry, which she proudly displayed at their stall at Big Daddy's Flea Market.
Vida’s warmth and kindness was undeniable, and she was a true friend to anyone lucky enough to cross her path. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Vida is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lucille Tanner; son, Sam Ray Polley; brother, Sammy Tanner; sister, Wanda Pyle; and brother-in-law, Bobby Pyle
Vida is survived by her husband, Frank Polley of Gun Barrel City, Texas; son, Taylor Polley of Gun Barrel City, Texas; sister-in-law, Delores Tanner of Seven Points, Texas; sister-in-law, Charmaine Morris of Dallas, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
