Troy Wayne Baker

February 4, 1950 — June 10, 2021

Troy Wayne Baker, 71, passed away on June 10, 2021.  He was born on February 4, 1950, in Mabank, Texas, to George Readus and Martha Frances Baker.

Troy was hard-working, funny, stern, and honest to a fault.  Some of his greatest passions were raising cows and spending time with those he loved.  He was a great father, not only to his kids but all the kids who entered his life.  He didn’t mind being the princess at the tea party with his granddaughters, and if you came upon this party, you were asked to join the occasion.  He’d wrestle with the boys, play ball, and offer a dip of snuff at any given time.  He never had a meal that didn’t consist of hot sauce, jalapenos, two slices of bread, and a glass of sweet tea.  His love for sweets, apple fritters, cookies, Mountain Dew, black coffee, and old westerns will always remind us of this special man who touched our lives and left an amazing legacy.  His sense of humor and comical antics will never be forgotten.  If you were fortunate enough to be picked on by him, you were loved.  If you were unfortunate enough to be on the other end of a good ole butt whooping by him (Troy Wayne, Chad, and numerous others), you were also, without a doubt, loved.  Until we meet again in God’s green pastures.

He is survived by his children Troy Wayne Baker II and wife Jennifer, Sherry Michelle Baker-Weeks and husband Bruce, and Chad Henderson; grandchildren Brook Mathison and husband Philip, Meagan Baker, Randall Lile, Russell Lile, Ashley Glidewell and husband Dakota, Destiny Hailer and husband Wesley, Nichalos Radke, and Leia Radke; great-grandchildren Elizabeth Robinson, Allison Baker, Benjamin Harrison, Scarlett Harrison, Peyton Glidewell, Loucaus Glidewell, Nataley Glidewell, Hazel Wade, Jerret Hailer, and Emma Hailer (on the way;) brothers Nolan Baker, Earl Baker, and Billy Baker.

Troy is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Francis Meyers, Sue Rushing, Loretta Allen, and Molly Robison.

Bro. Ed Shauer, with First Church of the Nazarene in Gun Barrel City, Texas, will officiate for the Baker family.

Pallbearers are Philip Mathison, Randall Lile, Russell Lile, Wesley Hailer, Nichalos Radke, and Joey Baker.
