Sherri Darnell Dunlap was welcomed into this world on November 16, 1967, the first child of Joe Lee Dunlap and Janet Kay Woods. She was born in Dallas, TX, at Baylor Hospital. She would be the oldest of four children, three daughters and one son.
Sherri was born in Dallas, but her parents moved to the Cedar Creek Lake area when she was young, to allow her to start school in a better environment. She lived several years in the Payne Springs area before the family moved to the Big Rock community, where she stayed until graduating from Eustace High School in 1986. Sherri was then off to see the world moving around and living in Everett, Washington for a while before returning to Texas. She then took a year off from work when her grandfather needed her and took care of him during the last year of his life to ensure he was able to get to his appointments and treatments. After a year of caring for Pa-Pa, she went to school and became a nurse. She became an LVN in May of 2002 and never looked back.
She was overjoyed to be the proud aunt to five nieces (Krystina, Miranda, Bella, Luna, and Stella), two nephews (Travis and Austin), and Great-Aunt to two great-nephews (Damian and Harley) and two great nieces (Rowdy Retta and Sassy Sandra). Sherri was also the proud fur mom to multiple finicky felines and a few precious puppies throughout the years. In 2009, she met the man that would become her husband, Joseph Shinn. They were married on April 10, 2010. They lived in Murchison, TX, with their fur babies, where she enjoyed being home and spending time with family.
On Friday, March 18, 2022, with her baby girl at her side, Sherri went to join her parents Joe and Janet Dunlap, her grandparents Manuel (Pa-Pa) Dunlap and Ruth, Travis and Emma (Teen) Woods in heaven. She will be remembered with love here by her husband Joseph Shinn, her father-in-law Jerry Shinn, and mother-in-law Judy Akin. Also remembering her will be her siblings and their families: Joe Bradley Dunlap and his wife Amanda Dunlap, their son and three daughters, Paula Young and her husband William Young and their family, one son, one daughter, two granddaughters, two grandsons, and Katherine Moore and her husband Anthony Moore and her daughter. Sherri will also be remembered by multiple other family members and friends she made throughout her lifetime.
