Ruben Lopez

Ruben Lopez, age 58, passed away on February 1, 2024 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on August 2, 1965 in Tulia, Texas to parents Salvador, Sr. and Delia (Ortega) Lopez.

Ruben was a man of few words but he had a sense of humor that could catch you off guard. He had an infectious laugh that would get everyone laughing along with him. 

One of Ruben's greatest passions was playing pool. With a cue stick in hand, he displayed awesome talent that mesmerized those who witnessed it. Through countless friendly matches with friends and family, Ruben showed great skill and precision in every shot. If you decided to bet money on a game, you were definitely gonna lose it. He will always be remembered as the pool shark whose talent delighted all who played against him.

When Ruben wasn't making shots on the green of the pool table he could be found fishing, usually with his brother, Sal Jr., nephew, Paul and sister, Selia. He was a hell of a fisherman who usually outfished everyone. 

Ruben had a deep love of music, his favorites were Madonna and Fleetwood Mac. Music became a lifelong companion for Ruben—an escape from the worries of the world; you could always hear him jamming his stereo, day or night. 

Ruben was a good son, brother, and uncle and he will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. 

Ruben is preceded in death by his dad, Sal Lopez, Sr.

He is survived by his loving mom, Delia Lopez  of Tool, Texas; siblings, Sal Lopez, Jr. of Tool, Texas, Sicilia Ruiz of Hobbs, New Mexico, Steven Lopez of Rule, Texas, Selia Lopez of Rule, Texas, Bobby Lopez of Tool, Texas, and Lorena Lopez of Tool, Texas; nephews, Paul Davis of Gun Barrel City, Texas and Chad Davis of Hobbs, New Mexico; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
