Roy Lee Davis

August 24, 1937 — April 21, 2021

Roy Lee Davis, 83, passed away on April 21, 2021.  He was born on August 24, 1937, in Madisonville, KY, to Barney B. and Willie Ruth Davis.

Roy graduated from Lowell High School and married his high school sweetheart.  They made their first home in Highland, Indiana, and Roy worked for the New York Central Railroad as a tower operator.  Not long after, Roy went to work for LaSalle Steel Company in Hammond, Indiana, for six years.  He left there and opened the Firestone Store with his father-in-law in Lowell, Indiana.  He then bought the Sinclair Gas Station in Lowell and sold it after a short time to go back to work at LaSalle Steel Company to be the manager of Quality Control Shop Operations.  He also served five years for the Lake County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy.

Roy and Gerry raised 3 children during this time, and he was devoted to their never-ending world of athletics.  His unfailing support included never missing one of the kids’ events.  A task not easily accomplished.  He coached several of their teams, including Little League baseball and Pop Warner football.  Roy enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine; children Cynthia Elliott, Pamela Bishop and husband Royce, and Roy Davis, Jr. and wife Janelle; grandchildren Amanda Elliott, Kyle Elliott, Lauren Vogelsang, and Lindsey Davis; great-grandchildren Teagan Underwood and Gavin Underwood; brother Gerald Davis and wife Carol; sister Helen Wolf.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents.

The family plans to have a private memorial service in the near future.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to The First Presbyterian Church of Mabank, 112 W. Mt. Vernon Street, Mabank, Texas  75147.
