Ronnie Lee Key, 76, passed away surrounded by his loving family on August 30, 2023, at his home in Mabank, Texas. He was born on November 12, 1946, in Commerce, Texas to parents Martin George and Ella (Bailey) Key.
Ronnie met his best friend and love of his life, Charlene, and they were married on February 25, 1967, in Garland, Texas. Ronnie’s most important character trait was his honesty, exhibited by his hard work ethic and dedication to his job and family. He loved his family and his main goal in life was to take care of his wife and children. Ronnie absolutely adored trains and enjoyed taking trips on steam locomotives, the trip from Durango to Silverton being one particularly memorable adventure. He also loved the mountains of Colorado, the Ozarks, and traveling to Yellowstone and other national parks along the west coast. Full of life, he always ran and never walked anywhere.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents Martin and Ella Key; son, Joshua Key; brother, Martin Key, Jr.; brother, Clarence Key; sister, Margie Hancock; sister, Billie Faye Pierce; and brother, Ray Key.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Charlene Key of Mabank, Texas; son, Michael Key and spouse Laura of Mabank, Texas; grandson, James Key of North Richland Hills, Texas; grandson, Christopher Key and spouse Hayley of San Antonio, Texas; grandson, Brian Key and spouse Destiny of Odessa, Texas; grandson, Ronnie Key and spouse Destiny of Mesquite, Texas; grandson, Mark Harrison of Mesquite, Texas; grandson, Joshua Harrison of Mesquite, Texas; great-grandkids, Elizabeth Key, Emily Key, Brian Key, Michael Key, and Evelyn Key; sister, Wynell Hamilton of Greenville, Texas; as well as extended family and many friends.
