Roger William Nielsen, 73, passed away on July 11, 2020. He was born on August 29, 1946, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the home of Clarence William and June LaVone Nielsen.
Roger was an outspoken “redneck” with an exaggerated accent. He was a loner most of the time except when the holidays came around. He loved to visit family during the holidays and eat. He loved to eat; one of his favorite sayings was, “I’m so hungry my stomach thinks my throat’s been cut.” He moved to the Cedar Creek Lake area to be close to family. He was involved in church activities and attended St. Peter Lutheran Church in Gun Barrel, City. He was also a supporter of the VFW. He enjoyed watching old movies, especially all those with John Wayne
He is survived by son Michael William Nielsen; brother Richard Nielsen and wife Vicki; sister Barbara Bauknight; nephews Nik Nielsen and wife Kami, Caleb Ellwein, and Cole Marshall; nieces Shannon Marshall and husband Wes, Chloe Marshall, Tracee Ellwein and husband Darren, Ella Ellwein, Ember Ellwein, and Ashley Grandey and husband Ian. He also leaves behind his beloved dog “Dog.”
Roger is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Heather Nielsen; and brother David Nielsen.
