Robert Ralph Baker, 78, passed away on April 13, 2021. He was born on February 28, 1943, in LaRue, Texas, to Robert Bascom and Beartha Elizabeth Baker.
He served his country in the US Army. Robert was a fun-loving man who never said a bad word about anyone; he didn’t believe in gossip. His attitude toward life was straightforward and blunt. He was a prankster and enjoyed bantering with certain members of the family. He was a very kind man and would do anything for anyone. He was a father to those who didn’t have a father. He loved his dog “CoCo,” who would sit and watch ballgames on TV with him. He enjoyed gospel and country music and loved John Wayne and the Texas Rangers. Hobbies included woodworking and fishing. More than anything, he loved God and his family. Robert will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Dorothy Sue; children Robert Baker, Jr. and wife Patty, and Beverly Soto and husband Guillermo; stepchildren Vanessa Chance and husband Delquin, Chris Baker and wife Pamela, Penny Bowers and husband Nelson, Kelly Flowers and husband Mike, Misty Hines and husband Eric, and Brandy Lozano and husband John; 25 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and brother Wilbert Baker and wife Vivian.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Shirley Ann Baker; daughter Debbie Cox; and brothers Rufus Baker and Henry Baker.
Reverend Kevin Johnson will officiate for the Baker family.
The family requests masks are worn by those in attendance.
