Robert Eugene Morris, 81, passed away on May 8, 2020. He was born on December 23, 1938, in Montgomery, West Virginia, to the home of James Elmer and Grace Mae Morris.
Robert grew up mostly around Lake City, Florida. When he was 17, he joined the army with some buddies and served three years. He also served several months in the Navy and was honorably discharged from both branches. One of his main duties in service to our country was cutting grass with scissors. That may have been the beginning of one of his favorite past times – mowing grass – either with a push mower or tractor. He was equally satisfied with both.
He moved his family to Irving, Texas, in 1963, to get a job with United Transport. Those first few years were mixed with various jobs when business was slow, and he was laid off from United. He knew United Transport was the most secure job for the future, so each time they called him back to work, he went without hesitation. Eventually, he became a professional car hauler, transporting cars from General Motors to various places around Texas and the country. Robert worked for about 38 years and enjoyed all of it.
He lived in the Cedar Creek Lake area for 30 plus years. After his retirement in 2005, he was a jack of all trades and master of man, fixing pretty much anything and everything around the house and property.
Robert was a faithful Christian above all and an active member of the Church of Christ in Mabank. Each day he thanked God for giving us a beautiful day, even it if was raining or freezing cold. Robert trusted in the Lord while living and trusted Him to take care of all his family when he was gone. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Pat Morris; children Phillip Morris and wife Heather, Bruce Morris, Jonathan Christensen, Allison Keathley and husband Chris, and Megan Schneider; grandchildren Zoe Christensen, Amber Brodbeck, Ashley Morris, Sean Morris, Alan Morris, Christopher Morris, Shelby Morris, Kayla Maples, Aynsley Keathley, Brooke Morris, Cody Craft, and Caitlyn Craft; great-grandchildren Alan Morris, Jr., Elizabeth Morris, Braxton Morris, Sean Morris, Jr., Jaxon Rann, Isla Maples, and Rylie Brodbeck; sisters Margaret Hall, and Ruth Ann Manheim.
