Robert “Scott” Pannell, age 61, of Canton, TX; passed away July 19, 2023, surrounded by his family and is now in heaven with his loving parents, brother, and his Lord, Jesus Christ. His family will be holding his Celebration of Life on Sunday July 23, 2023 at the First Methodist Church in Mabank, TX; at 3:00 PM.
Robert Scott was born May 11, 1962, in De Queen, Arkansas to Robert Ellis and Mary Pannell. Scott graduated from Grand Prairie High in 1980. He entered the US Navy where he proudly served on the USS Fulton stationed in New London, CT. While stationed there, Scott met the love of his life, Sarah Jane Bohannon, on a blind date and were married 8 months later on July 18, 1987. After the birth of their son in 1989, they moved to Mabank, TX. In 1994 they welcomed their daughter.
Scott was an active member of First Methodist Church in Mabank. He loved watching his kids and their friends play sports. For many years you could find him flipping burgers at the Little League football field. He loved going to Tyler State Park, the beach and hanging out with his family. He just recently retired from Frontier Communications in Irving, TX; after 22 years. In 2013, Scott began his long battle with cancer. He was given the gift of life with a bone marrow transplant from his brother Gary. After 8 years in remission his cancer came back, and fought hard until the very end.
Scott is survived by his wife Sarah, son Ryan and wife Leigha of Martins Mill, TX; daughter, Olivia of Mabank, TX; grandchildren, Ryleigh, Sophie, and Rutlin of Martins Mill, TX; Father in law, David Bohannon and wife Barbara of Keene, NH; brother in law, Peter Bohannon and wife Donna of Mansfield, TX; sister in law, Debbie Mullen of Keene, NH; sister in law, Suzie McCarthy and husband Michael of Melvin Village, NH; brother in law, Andy Bohannon and wife Misty of Keene, NH. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Ellis and Mary Edith and brother, Gary Wayne.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society.
