Richard Carl Johnson was born on April 26, 1943, and after a long battle with cancer, on August 1, 2021, his angel came and took the love of my life home to the arms of his Savior.
Richard was born in Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from Henry Ford High School. After graduating, he learned the art of making wax injection molds while working at a foundry. After moving to Texas in 1975, he opened his own business, Metro-Plex Tool, Inc., in 1977, which continued until he retired from tool making in 2004.
In 1977, he met the love of his life, Susan, and on April 11, 1981, they married, and then their joy was made complete with the birth of their son, Taylor Preston, on May 10, 1985.
Richard was then employed for many years at Mabank ISD, where he began by driving a school bus. Then the last several years he was happy to be able to combine one of his favorite hobbies, yard work, with his job when he began mowing the high school grounds. As with his own yard and home, everything was done to perfection.
Richard is preceded in death by his mother, Waunitta Laurel Montgomery, and his father, Harris Frank Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Susan; his son Taylor; his sister Janess Langohr; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to come by and help us celebrate his life on August 12, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Moorhead Funeral Home.
