Randy Walter Cogdill, 50, passed away on January 21, 2020. He was born on February 6, 1969, in Harvey, IL, to the home of Lawrence Garfield and Ruth Irene Cogdill.
Randy was a professional truck driver, trucking since he was 14 years of age, logging over 2.7 million miles and 48 states. He also spent time working as an auto mechanic and owned 1st Class Automotive in Escondido, CA. He loved everything about sports, especially baseball. He volunteered coaching boys rec ball and all-stars here in Mabank, TX. His two boys, Cody and Dillon, started playing baseball at the age of four, and he mentored and coached them and took a lot of pride in all of their activities. He would come into town from trucking and then turn around and travel hours away to get them to tournament ball games that would last all weekend. He loved going to truck shows, bowling, and playing baseball himself up until his 30’s. He had a big impact in the baseball community, and it was always important to him to do the right thing for the kids. Randy is dearly missed by family but also the boys he coached here in Mabank, TX. Randy was a straight forward man and had a strong presence wherever he went. He had a dry sense of humor, but would help anyone he met.
He is survived by his ex-wife Michelle Hill; sons Cody Ryan Cogdill and Dillon John Cogdill; brother Terrence Alexander Cogdill; sister Karen Edwards; and four nieces and three nephews.
Randy is preceded in death by his parents; sister Donna West; and brother Robert “Skip” Miller.
