Oleta Robbins Whitaker Mitchell passed away on April 21, 2022. She was born on October 18, 1931, in McKinney, Texas, to parents Johnny L. Robbins and Beulah Elizabeth Whisnant Robbins.
Oleta was a devoted church member; she taught the Women’s Sunday School class at Orchard Hills Baptist Church in Garland, Texas. Later, she and her husband Ray were founding members of Alpha Baptist Church in Seven Points, Texas. Some of her favorite hobbies were quilting and sewing; for 17 years Oleta owned her own quilting business. She also got her real estate license and sold real estate in Cincinnati, OH. She was a hard worker. But the most important thing to her was family. Oleta will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Oleta is survived by her husband of eight years, Meldon Ray Mitchell; children Kathy Jackman, Scott Whitaker and wife Tari, Kathy Mitchell Hearn and husband Steve, and Mike Mitchell; sister Mary Francis Duncan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Johnnie Robbins, William Earl Robbins, Wayne L. Robbins, Freddie Joe Robbins, Kenneth Robbins, and Weldon D. Robbins; and sisters Imogene Rich, Lo Keill Robbins, and Almeta F. Russell.
Dr. Matt Faircloth, Pastor, Alpha Baptist Church in Seven Points, Texas, will officiate for the Mitchell family.
