Layne Gordon, 62, passed away on August 19, 2023, at his home in Mabank, Texas. He was born on December 29, 1960 in Dallas, Texas, to parents Jim and Constance (Perkins) Gordon. 

Layne married his beloved wife Evelyn Gordon, May 29, 2009. His devotion of 15 years was unwavering. Their bond was built on a deep love that weathered all the storms that life presented them with.

Layne's devotion to the Lord was evident and he found solace and strength through his faith. His dedication to the Lord's work extended beyond the church walls as he served in the prison ministry. Layne had an insatiable thirst for knowledge for the Lord, you could always find him reading his Bible, seeking wisdom from its teachings. This spiritual nourishment not only guided him but also enriched his interactions with those around him. 

Layne is preceded in death by his father, Jim M. Gordon; son, Eric Gordon; and daughter, Teresa Garrison.

Layne is survived by his wife, Evelyn Gordon; mother, Lynn Gordon; daughter, Holly Gordon; son, Jesse Garrison; daughter, Tammy Rodriquez and husband Felipe; grandson, Tyler Loggins; granddaughter, Kalyn Loggins; grandson, TJ Powers and wife Hali; granddaughter, Amy Orantees and husband Ian; grandson, Isaac Rodriquez; grandson, Hunter Garrison; granddaughter, Kylie Garrison; grandson, Kade Garrison; great-grandson, Zayden Layne Loggins; great-granddaughter, Lilly Powers; great-grandson, Tate Powers; sister, Ron Gordon Burelsmith and husband Brady; sister; Toni Sellers Inglis; brother; Jimmy Speak; niece; Kaleigh Burelsmith; niece, Leslie Moore and husband Adam; great-nephews, Bobby Whitlock and Bralynn Whitlock; great-niece, Brooklyn Moore; numerous other church family, friends, co-workers, and loved ones.

Layne’s deeply loved companion “Lizzie” was with him until the end.
