Michael Ben Groves, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 3, 2021. He was born on February 15, 1949, in Roswell, NM, to Ewing William Groves and Ruth Magdalene (Earnest) Groves.
Michael was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Roswell, NM, where he resided until 1969. He honorably served at the Roswell, NM post of the National Guard until 1973. His life career was maintenance receiving his master plumber’s license. In 1973 he moved to Dallas, Texas, where he worked for Dallas Independent School District, retiring after 26 years. He spent his days fishing and traveling when possible. He was devoted to his family. To see his grandchildren and great-grandchildren walk in the door was the best part of his day. His face just lit up! He loved his family beyond measure and enjoyed every opportunity to visit with them. He was a very intelligent man with a witty, dry sense of humor that would make you question if he was joking or serious. At times he would crack himself up with the response from his humor. Time spent in front of the TV or in a book was old westerns and Louis L’amor. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by both parents and his wife Rose Marilyn Groves; three brothers Alfred Groves, Archie Groves, Patrick Groves; sister Bonnie Orthmann; daughter-in-law Shannon Hall; one grandson; one great-granddaughter Zariah Rosemarie Hasheme.
He is survived by three siblings Franklin Groves and wife Renata, Effie Simms, Zarah Dedie Lines; three children Arelette Samford, Wade Hall, and Brenda Dunlap; four grandchildren Stephanie Snowden and husband Jerry, Cody Petrowski, Nicole Alfaro and husband Tony, and Demi Petrowski; four great-grandchildren Dixie Snowden, Abbie Snowden, Kaycie Snowden, and Shaylie Snowden; plus many nieces and nephews.
