Maurice Carlton Nall “Corky,” 75, of Gun Barrel City, Texas, passed away on March 19, 2022, after a lengthy stay at Christus Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas. He was born on September 19, 1946, in Jacksonville, Texas, to parents Carlton Claude Nall and Clara Elizabeth Dublin Nall.
Corky grew up in Slaton, Texas. He went into the Navy on February 10, 1964, at the age of 18, and served until February 1, 1967, with an honorable discharge. He was sent to Vietnam. According to his military papers, he was an electrician apprentice on the ship USS Isle Royale at the U.S. Naval Station in Long Beach, California. After the Navy, he met the mother of his children and married in December 1967, lasting for 28 years. During the time they were married, they lived in Lubbock, Texas. He worked for Lubbock Power & Light, Joe Fry Electric, then went into business for himself with the name Commercial Electric, Corky Nall Electric, ending with City Service Electric which his son Mike took over when he retired. He resided in Lubbock, Texas, until moving his family to the East Texas Cedar Creek Lake area in 1985. Corky was a hard-working man, and he always took care of his family. He had a heart as big as Texas and would give the shirt off his back or give his last dollar to help a stranger or family in need, whether it was his own family, family members, or a friend. When he had his Electrical & Building Business, he always did his best to take care of the guys that worked for him. Was he perfect? No, but none of us are. Did he have his flaws? Yes, but don’t we all? No matter what, we loved him, and he loved us. Our dad, brother, and friend is gone but not forgotten!
He is survived by his children Michael Sean Nall and wife Angie, Kimberly Genice Allen and husband Darrin, and Tammy Aliece Henry; mother of his children Linnie Virginia Nall; grandchildren Lauren Nall, Aubrey Nall, Jessica Castleman, Kailyn Allen, Danielle Allen, Dustin Bunger, Randall Bunger, and Amanda Orr and husband Choice; great-grandchildren Arabella Alvarado, Mila Orr, Nataley Christensen, and Novaley Christensen; brothers William Claude Nall, Larry Gene Nall, and Calvin Wayne Klaus, Jr.; loving friend Rhonda Jinkins and family Christine Tucker and husband Jeremy and children Jared Greene (who is in Heaven), Haley Greene, Grady Tucker, and Tatum Tucker; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Maurice Carlton Nall “Corky” is preceded in death by his father Carlton Claude Nall, mother Clara Elizabeth Klaus, and stepfather Calvin Wayne Klaus.
