Marie Dilworth Dicus was born August 21, 1917 in Rienzi, MS. She passed away on April 7, 2012 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Tool, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Franklin Dilworth and Sophia Kinningham Dilworth, infant brothers Oliver and Robert, brothers Walter Ira Dilworth and James Franklin Dilworth, sisters Kay Frances Rasco and Dora Nell Morton. She is survived by her daughter Pat Sims, and son-in-law Jim, her grandson William Marsden, several nieces and nephews, step-granddaughter Jodie Jinks and her husband Lynn, step-grandson Steve Sims, Step-great granddaughter Jamie Cobb and her husband Chris, step -great grandson Justin Jinks and his wife Shannon, step-great great grandchildren Morgan Jinks, and Calan Cobb and many friends.
Mrs. Dicus graduated from Pisgah High School in 1935, attended Granda College, and graduated from Mississippi State College for Women in 1939. After the age 40 she returned to the University Of Tennessee to complete a Master's Degree in Home Economics. She taught Home Economics in Lamar County, AL. between1940 and 1942. In 1943 she married William Guy Dicus and became a homemaker until 1952. She taught at Burnsville High School between 1953 to 1957, taught at Northeast Mississippi Junior College between 1958 to 1974 where she ended her teaching career. Their only child Patsy was born in 1945.
She relocated to Texas in 1993 to be near her family. She became an active member of Cedar Creek Lake Methodist church and made many new friends during her years as a Texan.
Mrs. Dicus hobbies were gardening, sewing, quilt-making, cooking, traveling and watching sports; especially the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Mavericks and the Dukes basketball team. Her family will forever remember her delicious oat meal cookies and pecan pies.
The family would like to express gratitude and appreciation to the employees of Cedar Creek Lake Home Health and Hospice for the excellent care they provided and to Dot Meadows for her kindness and compassion during Mama's final days.
The family request that memorials be made to the CCLUMC Food Pantry Building Fund, Cedar Creek United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 43175 Seven Points, TX. 75143, in lieu of flowers.
The family will receive friends 5:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday April 10, 2012 at Moorhead Epps Funeral Home in Gun Barrel City, TX.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday April 11, 2012 at the Cedar Creek Lake United Methodist Church in Tool, TX. officiated by Rev. Chuck Webber.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday April 14, 2012 at McPeters Funeral Home, Corinth, MS. burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park in Corinth, MS.
