Lou Jean Barina

March 22, 1942 — August 25, 2022

Lou Jean Barina, 80, passed away on August 25, 2022, peacefully at home with her family by her side.  She was born on March 22, 1942, in Dallas, Texas.

Jean loved Bingo, playing cards, old movies, scented candles, and casino trips where she would spend hours testing her luck on the slot machines.  But most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and friends, fellowshipping, eating wonderful food, listening to music, and she never turned down dessert.

She enjoyed all beauties of life and never met a stranger.  She treated everyone with love and ALWAYS forgave.  She spent every morning soaking in the sun wearing her sunglasses, drinking coffee, and smoking her cigarettes, sitting on the front porch.  It didn’t matter if it was 42 or 102; she was going to the porch to get her day going.  These were the most enjoyable moments of her life.

Jean was a compassionate soul who expressed overwhelming amounts of love for everyone she came in contact with, as you can see with the amount of people here today to celebrate her life.  She was like the roots of a tree.  Their job is to hold you up and help you live a strong and healthy life.  And if you go through a storm, they are there to hold you up, come what may, just as Jean did for her family.  She was a woman of God and trusted him with all her heart, never scared of anything or any situation until He called her home.

There was a lot of love in Jean’s life.  Even though she is gone now, her legacy will live on in all of us forever.  She was an incredible teacher, mother, and grandmother who inspired everyone who knew her.  Mom, your memory and love will live on in all of our hearts forever.

Jean is survived by children Frances Jean Chatterly and husband Mark, James Howard Barina and wife Carla, Rebecca Redell Brim and husband Mike Easley, and Debra Rene Mosier and husband Matt; 18 grandchildren, Brandi Boyd, Chad Barina, Tara Cato, Jamey Barina, Kacey Gonzalez, Aimee Johnson, Aaron Barina, Jessica Kiker, Ashley Hawpe, Weston Wilcoxson, Trey Brim, Ryan Brim, Morgan Chatterly, Elaycia Jones, Amanda Brewer, Emma Mosier, Hailey Mosier, and Mattie Mosier; 43 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers Donald Ray Wesson and wife Laura; sisters Charlotte Vincent and husband Shawn, Donna Kay Manuel and husband Monty, Patricia Ann Query and husband Jim, Debbie Sue Carlile and husband Tom; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Frank Henry Barina, brother Gary Don Kemp, sister Barbara Nan Flowers, grandson Michael Barina, and grandson Mathew Chatterly.
