Katherine Marie Martin, 91, passed away on February 9, 2020. She was born on August 4, 1928, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to the home of William and Ruth Marshall.
She was a rancher’s wife, helping tend cattle and horses, as well as helping with the daily operation of running a ranch. She and her husband, Travis, owned Martin’s Drive In for ten years but returned to life on the ranch. Katherine was an excellent cook and could make even a bologna sandwich taste like a gourmet meal. She was a quiet, Christian woman with a great sense of humor. She attended the Cowboy Church until health issues kept her from attending. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing chicken foot and working jigsaw puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her daughter and neighbors. Anytime they were going somewhere, she was in the car ready to go.
She is survived by her daughter Cathy Martin; nephew C.E. Vaughan; sister-in-law Susie Marshall; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Katherine is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 42 years Travis Martin; and brother Ronald Lee Marshall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kaufman County Cowboy Church Arena Fund.
Chaplain Richard Moore will officiate for the Martin family.
