Karen Jane Thompson

Karen Jane Thompson of Mabank, Texas passed away peacefully on September 29, 2017 in Mabank, Texas.  She was born December 18, 1953 in Dallas, Texas to Bobby Gene & Joyce Jane Chambers Taylor.  She grew up in a loving home with 3 brothers; Ronnie Taylor, Randy Taylor & his wife LaDonna and Bobby Taylor & his wife Donna.

Karen attended Fruitvale & Edgewood schools.  She worked for 30 years as a Police Dispatcher for the City of Canton, Texas in Van Zandt County.  She was blessed with a great son; Jarrod Thompson & his wife Stephanie.  Karen’s heart always smiled when she spent time with her 4 grandchildren; Taylor Godwin, Karlee Thompson, Aaron Godwin and Dallas Thompson.  In Karen’s spare time she enjoyed being outside, watching her grandchildren playing baseball and football, sewing, reading a good Stephen King book and cooking.  But mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She was a wonderful daughter, mother, aunt, grandmother and a dear friend to many.  Karen will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Karen is preceded in death by her father Bobby Taylor.

Bro. Ed Schauer with Church of the Nazarene in Gun Barrel City, Texas will be officiating for the Shinn family.
