On the morning of September 21, 2020, John Blake Foster, father, brother, uncle, and friend to all, passed away at the age of 60 at Green Oaks Nursing Facility in Arlington, Texas.
Blake was born on October 7, 1959, in Dallas, Texas, to Billy and Charlene Foster. Blake lost his father at an early age and was raised by his mother and brother Lynn in Dallas, Texas. He attended Bryan Adams High School. Following high school, Blake worked various jobs over the years including security in downtown Dallas, and was proud to be a volunteer fireman for the Payne Springs Fire Department. He resided in Payne Springs and in1989 his son Billy was born. Blake was so proud to be a father.
Blake enjoyed the simple things in life, and life was always better with a cold Dr. Pepper to share over a nice conversation. He was known for his kindness and dry sense of humor. He always had a funny joke or witty comeback and was always looking to make you smile or laugh. He enjoyed western movies, especially those with John Wayne, country music, and watching NASCAR races.
Over the years, Blake had numerous health issues that required him to be in assisted or skilled nursing facilities. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because this is where he met his soul mate, Mary Frederick. They shared many of the same interests and were a match made in heaven. They married on May 23, 2014, at their apartment in Arlington, Texas.
Blake is preceded in death by his father Billy; mother Charlene; son Billy; and wife Mary. He is survived by his brother Lynn; sister-in-law Sheri; nephews Dylan and Logan; an aunt; and many cousins and friends.
Bro. Ed Schauer of the First Church of the Nazarene in Gun Barrel City, Texas, will officiate for the Foster family.
