John Everett Oeler, 83, of Big Pine Key, Florida, died Thursday, October 30, 2014 at East Texas Medical Center in Athens, TX. He was born Nov. 10, 1930 in White Plains, NY to the late John J. and Rose Oeler. He was a war veteran, serving in the Korean war as the radio operator on a B29 bomber crew, and after earning an Electrical Engineering degree on the GI Bill, moved to Richardson, Texas with the Collins Radio Company. In 1969, he and his late wife, Joanne Parker Oeler, formed and operated an Electronic Manufacturer's Representative firm in Dallas, TX, Oeler & Menelaides, Inc., with offices in Austin and with partner, Ken Menelaides, in Houston, TX. In 1994, they retired and moved to Big Pine Key, Fl where they were members of St Francis-in-the-Keys Episcopal Church and supported many community organizations.
He is survived by daughter, Leslie Oeler Dare and her husband, Don, of Mabank, Texas; son John Stewart Oeler of Plano, Texas; granddaughter, Natasha Rose Dare of Mabank, Texas; sister Rosemary Carrotti and husband, Leo, of West Haverstraw, New York; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends left to cherish his memory
He was cremated and a memorial service will be held on Monday, 11/24/14 at 10am at St Francis-in-the-Keys Episcopal Church in Big Pine Key, Florida with a burial at Sea to follow at 2pm.
