Jimmy Collie
Jimmy Collie, 80, of Malakoff, Tx., died Sunday Morning November 3, 2013, at The Hospice of East Texas Hospital in Tyler, Texas, after a prolonged battle with cancer.
He was born on July 28, 1933, in Tillman, Oklahoma, to Pat and Marie Collie. He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Malakoff. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He finished his long and varied career, which included everything from country music singer to car salesman, and as an independent gasoline pump mechanic. He moved to Athens, Texas in 1980 going to work for Twin Lakes Petroleum until retirement, where upon he owned his own gasoline pump repair business, "The Collie Company" servicing stations across the East Texas area.
He is preceded by his parents; 5 sisters: Louise Lemmons, Dorothy Phillips, Patsy Sutton, Opal Gilbert, and Jeanie Walls; 7 brothers: Elsworth Collie, Troy Wayne Collie, Frank Collie, Don Collie, Mike Collie, Pat Collie and Bob Collie.
He is survived by one sister Peggy Self; his wife Barbara Collie, daughter Kathy Liberto, Houston, son's Jimmy Collie, Dallas, Randy Collie, Dallas and Stephen Scott, Madison, Indiana; 10 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Malakoff, Tx., at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 9, 2013.
Flowers may be sent to the residence, or in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a charity of the donor's choice.
