Janet Lynn Dockery, age 66, of Eustace, Texas, passed away on December 2, 2024, in Athens, Texas. She was born on February 18, 1958, in Athens, Texas to parents J.D. and Norma (Hathcock) Ashton.
Jan had a personality that could fill a room and then some. Outspoken and loud, she was the life of every gathering and always the friend everyone needed. She was truly an outlaw in spirit, never hesitating to speak her mind or champion a cause. With her relentless energy and big heart, she inspired those around her to embrace life with open arms.
There are countless memories that will keep Jan's spirit alive among family and friends. One particularly unforgettable tale is that time she burnt Curtis' truck in the driveway. Everyone who was there remembers it vividly, but what stood out most was how Jan handled it; it was as if nothing had ever happened, and life went on with laughter echoing through the air.
Jan's greatest joy came from her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy, and she poured her love into them, creating countless cherished moments. Those who knew her loved her fiercely and appreciated the warmth of her presence, knowing there was never a dull moment when Jan was around.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents, JD and Norma Ashton; and sister, Linda Squires; and brother, Dino Ashton.
Jan is survived by her son, Jason Shirey of Eustace, Texas; daughter, Jaydie Parks and husband Kizik of Eustace, Texas; granddaughter, Skyla Buchanan of Eustace, Texas; granddaughter, Harper Weeden of Greenville, Texas; niece, Alicia Ashton of Nacogdoches, Texas; brother-in-law, Jimmy Squires, and numerous family, friends, and loved ones
