James Floyd Swadley, Jr., 63, passed away on October 20, 2021. He was born on January 29, 1958, in Dallas, Texas, to parents James Floyd Swadley, Sr. and Carol Ann Fabian Swadley and was raised in Grand Prairie, Texas. The Swadley family were original settlers to Grand Prairie and are credited with starting the Fire Department for the City of Grand Prairie.
James has lived in the Cedar Creek Lake area since 2005. He worked for Martin Marrietta in Mabank, Texas, as a truck driver for eight years. James was an excellent chess player, accomplished golfer, and an avid bowler. He loved his rock and roll and loved being outside working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Elizabeth Leeann Swadley; daughters Ashley G. Whitley and husband Chris, and Patricia M. Swadley; granddaughters Rayvn Gayle, Autumn Michelle, and Steelie Estelle; grandsons Michael James and Elijah Raegan; sister Joyce Cooper and daughter Kandias Choate and husband Blue and son Ashton; Joyce’s son Alex Cooper and his wife Lisa and sons Braiden Michael and Breadyn James and daughter Lilyana; uncle William Fabian and wife Rhonda.
James is preceded in death by his parents.
Senior Pastor Michael Adalian with Legendary Baptist Church in Gun Barrel City, Texas, will officiate for the Swadley family.
