James Erwin Adams

Our handsome father, brother and friend, James Erwin (Je) Adams passed, away Friday, October 23rd, 2020. He was preceded in death by his beloved, gorgeous wife, Lois Raye Davis Adams, brother Alvin Lou Adams, parents Hurley Alvin Adams and Versie Ora Erwin Adams. His daughter-in-law Mary Faye Adams and grandson J.L. Adams.

He is survived by daughter and daughter-in-law, Darlina Anthony and Roxanne Joganik, son James L. Adams, Sr., son and daughter-in-law Daniel and Vicki Adams and daughter and son-in-law Judy and Simon Horn, his grandchildren, Jay McCormick, Aaron Adams, Michelle Stancato, Chris Sullivan, Amy Adams, Desiree Anthony, Daniel Anthony, Victoria Adams, Zachary Adams and his great-grandchildren Kareem Price, Darnell Price, Tyler Anthony, Joel (JJ) Aycock, Aaliyah Aycock and James (Jamie) R. Adams. He is also survived by his brother Leon Daniel Adams (wife Shelba) who is now the patriarch of the Adams family.

At the young age of only 10 to 12 years he started his first job, running a paper route. He never stopped working since. He held many different job positions throughout his life. He was in the US Army reserves and the Arkansas Guard.  He taught himself to program a computer when he worked for Varo in the late 1970’s. When he arrived the first day of the job at Varo, they handed him a manual and said, “No one here knows how to operate this equipment, please figure it out!”. Did not phase him a bit. Just got to it, like with anything he tried, he figured it out.

He had a long career working for Raytheon, where he was an inspector; his title was production specialist senior, a lead for his team. His many colleagues all highly respected him and knew him to be very instinctive. One colleagues also described him as a daredevil. He would have liked that, ha, ha! He traveled to many places across the USA to inspect the large equipment that Raytheon made for the military. He enjoyed talking about all the places he traveled with Raytheon. One of his favorites was in Washington State where, in his spare time, he would visit Mount St. Helens. With his SkyMiles earned, he was able to take his wife and daughter, Judy, to visit there too. What a great time!

There was little James could not fix or do in his prime, fixing cars, repairing homes, building a boat dock, etc., all with great attention to detail. Even in retirement, he ran his own business with the help of his gorgeous and intelligent wife, Lois. They developed a rental property business that helped fund their many exciting trips to various sites around Texas, Arkansas (where he was born and raised), Ohio (where his daughter Judy lives), Costa Rica (where his brother-in-law Lawrence Davis lived in his retirement) and other various US States.

He loved Studebaker cars, motorcycles, boating, his family, babies, friends and neighbors. He liked to hunt. He liked to fish because his wife Lois loved it so much. He loved having visits from his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most of all, he loved his wife, Lois, whom he spoiled every chance he got, and she spoiled him too. He was so lost without her when she passed in 2018.

Not one to sit still and do nothing, even during the late stages of Alzheimer’s, his nurses would find him walking around looking for something to do or someone to help. The nursing staff and hospice developed a great affection for him during the 2 years they cared for him. They were amazingly kind and loving to him.

Now he is with Jesus and Lois, where he belongs.
