James Dale Schunatz

James Dale Schunatz, 78, passed away on August 19, 2021, in Athens, Texas.  He was born on December 29, 1942, in Mansfield, OH, to parents Nickolas Joseph and Evelyn Marie Schunatz.

He was born and raised in Mansfield, Ohio.  He served in the Army from 1966 to 1968 and received a National Defense Service Medal, Marksman Badge (Rifle M-14), and Expert Badge (Rifle M-16.)  He married Marilyn Snider in 1966.  They moved to Texas in 1976, where he loved to spend time with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.  He was the best Grandpa and G-Pop ever and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

James is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn; daughter Truly Moon and husband Jeremy; sons Nickalous Schunatz and wife Norma, James Schunatz II and wife Debbie, and Mark Schunatz and wife Patti; grandchildren Torri Schunatz, Chris Schunatz, James Schunatz, Megan Schunatz, Jacoby Schunatz, Joiy Lefferman, and Zoiy Moon; great-grandchildren Skyla Wade, Layla Schunatz, Feirra Shaw, Grace Schunatz, and Easton West; brothers Gary Schunatz and Kenny Schunatz; sisters Dolly Blackburn and Marilyn Reed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother David Schunatz.
