James Dennis Ashton, known to friends and family as Dino, 70, of Eustace, Texas, passed away on October 14, 2024, in Athens, Texas. He was born on November 3, 1953, in Athens, Texas to parents J.D. Ashton and Norma Hathcock. 

A proud graduate of Eustace High School, Dino embarked on a career as a lineman at PP&L, where he dedicated many years of service. His work was both demanding and admirable, but a shooting incident brought an unexpected end to his career. His journey through life was marked by a steady calmness, a trademark of his personality, balanced by a charming wit that brought smiles to many around him.

Dino was a devoted father who raised his daughter alone, a feat that stands as one of his proudest accomplishments. He was also an accomplished property and homeowner at a young age, reflecting his strong work ethic and sense of responsibility. In his leisure time, Dino found joy in reading books about history, immersing himself in the stories of the past. He also had a particular fondness for watching westerns, enjoying the adventures and characters that often mirrored the values of life he embraced.

Dino is preceded in death by his parents, JD and Norma Ruth Ashton; and sister, Linda Squires.

Dino is survived by his daughter, Alicia Ashton of Nacogdoches, Texas; sister, Janet Dockery of Eustace, Texas; niece, Jaydie Parks and husband Kizik of Eustace, Texas; nephew, Jason Shirey of Eustace, Texas; great niece, Skyla Buchanan of Eustace, Texas; great niece, Harper Weeden of Eustace, Texas, brother in law, Jimmy Squires of Eustace, Texas; numerous family, friends, and loved ones.
