Helen Myers

Helen Elizabeth Myers was born Helen Elizabeth High on March 5, 1925 to the parents Floyd Hogue High and Mattie Cecil Mahan High in Charleston, West Virginia. Helen was the youngest of six children. She married Woodrow "Woody" Myers. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers Charles, George, John and James Allen, and one sister Edith. Helen and Woody had no children but through their marriage she acquired a stepson Jerry Myers of Dunbar, West Virginia . Helen and Woody made their home in Charleston and then St. Albans, West Virginia where they could be close to her brother James Allen High and his wife Ella Jane and their sons James Allen High II, Michael Terry Rogers and Charles Marcus Rogers. Helen served the state of West Virginia for over 40 years in various clerical functions in The Department Of Motor Vehicles and other agencies. After her retirement she and Woody moved to New Port Richey, Florida where she lived until after Woody's death. She then moved Indian Harbor in Mabank, Texas where she once again could be close to her brother James Allen and his family. In the last years of her life Helen lived in several assisted living facilities in Gun Barrel City and Athens. Her biggest regret was that she could not be in her own home. Helen passed away April 3, at the age of 87 years after a brief illness. She leaves behind to cherish her memory sister-in-law Ella Jane High, nephew James Allen High II, and his wife Debi, great-nieces Regina High, Jenifer High, great-nephew Shane High , 5 great great-nieces and great great- nephews Allen, Makayla, Aliya, Kevin, Caleb, stepson Jerry Myers and his wife Wanda and their children Chris Myers, and his wife Heather, Amanda Clark and her husband Craig, 5 step-great grandchildren Jamie Myers, Jayne Myers, Savanna Clark, Noah Clark, Corey Clark and friends. Funeral services were Saturday April 7, 2012 at Caney Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Hobgood officiating under the direction of Moorhead Epps Funeral Home in Gun Barrel City.
