Mrs. Edna Vinnell McRee, age 91, born on February 16, 1933, in Kaufman, Texas, passed away on October 15, 2024, in the comfort of her own home in Gun Barrel City, Texas.
Edna loved to be outdoors, whether it was gardening, spending the day at the lake, or just site seeing, it was one of her favorite pass times. She enjoyed getting together with friends and playing dominos, going out dancing and listening to music. In her spare time, she enjoyed flea market shopping and looking at antiques. During the holidays she would decorate the whole house with nick knacks and festive spirit. She loved to crochet and create things by sewing and knitting.
Edna had a successful long-term career as a Financial Account Manager at First State Bank in Gun Barrell City. Upon her retirement, Edna began to care for children in her home. Edna was a member of First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City and loved being a part of Sunday service.
Edna, on September 21, 1996, married her loving husband, Tommy. They spent 28 wonderful years together. They took trips to Colorado, spent time with friends, took turns cooking dinner, and enjoyed each other’s company. In the last year of her life, Tommy made sure she had the best care.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mary Alice Tarno; son, Larry James Bullock; and daughter, Debra Jania Weesner; and 9 brothers and sisters.
Edna is survived by her loving husband, Thomas E. McRee Sr., one brother, Paul Fred Tarno; one son, Delbert Nash and wife Martha. Adopted children, Thomas E. McRee Jr., Brandon McRee, and Shelisa McRee. Grandchildren, Kelly Chapman and husband Chris; Robert Weesner; John Nash and wife Melissa; Kenny Bullock; Eric McRee, Jarod McRee, and Rachel McRee; Starla Garcia, Kayna Brogden and Landen Williams. Eleven great-grandchildren - Ethan, Eli C. Cheyenne, Eli L, Dalton, Rylee, Raylan, Myles, Lillyanna, Jonathan, Mavis and numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.
