Doctor Jim Wallis “Doc” Airhart, was born in McKinney, TX on September 27, 1942, to Wallis Airhart and Oleta Miller Airhart. He passed away in his sleep at home on December 18, 2016. Doctor Airhart graduated from Texas A&M University in 1966 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, he served in the United States Army as a Captain in the Biological Warfare Division at Fort Detrick, Maryland. He practiced veterinary medicine for 46 years and owned Town East Animal Hospital in Mesquite. He was on the Board of Directors for the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, a member of The Academy of Veterinary Practice, and a member of the Mesquite Rotary Club. He was a pilot, avid reader and collector of fine arts and motor vehicles. He enjoyed gardening, politics, and playing the violin.
Jim is survived by his wife, Jetta Airhart and children: Jim Bob Airhart and wife, Lainie, Chad Airhart and wife, Cinamon, Angie Airhart Lannoo and husband, Brett, Barbi Airhart Donehoo, Kylie Tacker and Cole Tacker. Brother, Tom Pat Airhart and wife, JoAnne, sister Dixon Ann Glaze and husband, Carl. Grandchildren: Del Donehoo, Roxi Donehoo, Raef Airhart, Mack Lannoo, Wesley Airhart, Kinley Lannoo, and Eva Airhart.
Left to cherish Jim’s memory are numerous family members, friends and business associates.
Visitation and viewing will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Eastridge Park Christian Church located at 2701 Town East Blvd., Mesquite, Texas. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at same location.
The service will be officiated by Rev. Sam Caldwell. Burial will be at Stony Point Cemetery near the Valdasta community.
