Dorothea Francis Guinn, age 61, passed away on February 15, 2025, at her home in Payne Springs, Texas. She was born on December 15, 1963, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to parents Hoyt and Judith (Lawson) Hicks.
Dorothea will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who dedicated countless hours to her family, especially while they were growing up. Always a presence in the kitchen, Dorothea ensured that a hearty meal was waiting for her grandchildren when they returned home from school, with her delicious pies being a favorite among them.
Dorothea's personality was bright and lively; she had a knack for being goofy and funny, often making silly faces that elicited laughs from those around her. Above all, she aimed to be a shining light for her family, through both her warmth and spirit. Dorothea’s kindness was matched by her stubbornness at times, but her big heart truly reflected her love for God and family.
Throughout her life, Dorothea found joy in a variety of hobbies and interests. She had a green thumb and loved gardening, while also enjoying the challenges of puzzles. Cooking and baking were not just tasks but passions, and she took great pride in doing crafts as well. In quieter moments, Dorothea immersed herself in watching Asian videos, exploring different lifestyles and cultures.
Dorothea cherished her role as a mother and grandmother above all else. For more than twenty years, she opened her home to raise not only her kids but her grandkids as well, creating a warm and welcoming environment filled with love and laughter.
Dorothea is preceded in death by her parents, Hoyt and Judith Hicks; husband, Wesley Guinn; and sister, Melodye Hicks.
Dorothea is survived by her daughter, Malanda Bevans; daughter, Dannielle Spell; granddaughter, Sheridan Spell; grandson, Shane Bevans; granddaughter, Madison Spell and husband Richard Zavala; grandson, Malakai Bevans; grandson, Austin Tomlin; granddaughter, Divine Hudson, brother, Christopher Hicks, sister, Theresa Hicks; as well as numerous other family, friends, and loved ones.
