Heaven has a beautiful new member as our Mom left us on Tuesday, October 16, to meet Jesus. Cynthia was born in Hays, Kansas on July 3, 1932 to Charles Stone Waldo and Doris Henrietta Schwaller Waldo. Cynthia was the oldest of four children including Bruce (Reva) of Chagrin Falls, OH, Jon, (deceased) and his wife Billie of Houston and her beloved baby sister, Sara (James) of Grand Prairie. At a young age, the family moved to the Dallas area settling in Grand Prairie. Cynthia graduated Grand Prairie High School in 1950 and attended North Texas State University.
Cynthia met Bill, the love of her life, at Chance Vought Corporation in 1953 where she worked in personnel. They were married on January 21, 1954. They moved to Mabank shortly afterward and began a life filled with many interests as Bill went to work for the USDA. Daughters, Debra and Molly, were born during this time and a third daughter, Nancy, was born in 1959 when they moved to Wills Point. Prior to the move to Wills Point, Bill and Cynthia acquired their farm outside Mabank. They relocated several times throughout Texas including Angleton, Clarksville and Palestine. Cynthia and Bill retired to the farm, a place of many happy memories where they ran cattle, maintained a large garden and entertained kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.Cynthia was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star as well as the Order of the Beaucant. Cynthia was also a proud member of the Sarah Maples Chapter of the D.A. R. Volunteerism was a major part of her life as she supported her daughters as a room mother throughout their school years and as president of the Westwood Band Booster Club for many years. Cynthia was a talented seamstress making her daughter's clothes, prom dresses, as well as the girl's wedding dresses as a labor of love. Mom was an avid reader her entire life and was also a passionate cross-stitcher, creating many works of art which we enjoy today.
Mom was a beautiful lady that was always ready with a smile and an "interview" of those she met.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Billy Watson Hagler, her daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Carey McKinney of Elkhart, TX, Molly and Steve Pace of Palestine, Nancy and Randy Greene of Eustace. Grandchildren include Amanda and Kevin Hollingsworth and Jacob McKinney of Elkhart, Casey and Amy McKinney, of Palestine, Michael and Dara Pace of Palestine, Bradley and Courtney Greene of Kemp, Texas. Great-grandchildren Luke, Rilyn, Emma and Seth Hollingsworth, Tate, Coye and soon to arrive baby Ava Leigh McKinney, and Braxton Greene of Kemp.
