Christopher Michael Smith

Christopher Michael Smith, 45, passed away September 10, 2023, in Athens, Texas. He was born on April 13, 1978, in Midland, Texas to parents James Eugene and Doris Jean (McHenry) Buckalew.

Christopher was a cheerful and outgoing guy who really enjoyed spending time with his family. He was very artistic and had an affinity for drawing. Christopher loved listening to music, he was also a talented musician who played bass guitar and the drums. One of his biggest passions was playing horseshoes, he played in several tournaments and was always on the winning team. Christopher was known as the life of the party, and he will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Christopher is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Christopher is survived by his mother, Doris Buckalew and husband Charles Parrish of Mabank, Texas; father, James “Gene” Smith of Bandera, Texas; brother, Matthew Philpott and spouse Ashley of Mabank, Texas; brother, Charles Buckalew of Colorado City, Texas; brother John Buckalew and spouse Lily of Colorado City, Texas; uncle, Brian McHenry and spouse Randy of Midlothian, Texas; cousin, Howard King and spouse Jennifer of Midland, Texas; uncle, John McGraw and wife Glenda, aunt Raylynn McGee, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
