Carolyn Ann Bailey

Carolyn Ann Bailey, 74 of Mabank, Texas passed away peacefully on February 20, 2018.  She was born on July 31, 1943 in Mountainburg, Arkansas to the home of William Mathis and Wilka Jean Mounce Gibbs.

Carolyn graduated from Amarillo High School in 1961. On September 30, 1961 she married the love of her life, Thurman Norris Bailey and they started their family.  After their family was raised, Carolyn returned to school and earned her teaching degree from Texas A & M.  She spent many years teaching Pre-K through 2nd grade.  In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, sewing, sketching, making craft projects, canning home grown foods and she was very proud that she had a children’s book published for people to read and enjoy.  She truly cherished spending time with her family and friends.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 56 years, Thurman Bailey; her 4 brothers William, Charles, Joe and Jeremiah; her 5 children Wilka Cathline Michaelson, Thurman Eugene Bailey, Julia Diane Garcia, Delbert John Bailey and Fred Albert Bailey; 17 grandchildren Christol, Nathan, Bethany, Roy, Crystal, Jeff, Tosha, Nicole, Nicholis, Romie, Zachary, Hannah, Marsha, Charlie, Jasmine, Marlissa and Cami and 26 great-grandchildren along with a host of beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She was a loyal and devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend.  Carolyn will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
