Carl F. Callahan of Malakoff, Texas passed away unexpectedly on June 19, 2023. He was born in Terre Haute, IN, on January 28, 1969.  His parents are Gerald (Jerry) Callahan and Cathryn Callahan (Robinson). Carl grew up in Indiana until moving to Texas at the age of 12 with his family. Carl was loved by too many family members and friends to name. He liked to fish, hunt and enjoyed his Mountain Dew and Jack Daniels. Carl was a mechanic by trade since graduating from Kemp High School in 1987. Carl was a loving son, brother, and father. He had a wife, 2 children, 5 step children, 2 grandchildren, and 2 step grandchildren. Carl was a kind, loving, hard-working man who was always willing to help anyone out when asked. Carl was truly a good friend, and a loving and wonderful husband, son and brother who will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Carl is preceded in death by his mother Cathryn Callahan (Robinson), grandson Lyric Rodriguez and paternal and maternal grandparents.

He is survived by his wife Chrissy Callahan and step children Michael and Lois Whitt of Malakoff, son Stephen Callahan of Kemp, daughter and son-in-law Sheralyn and Kevin Neal and grandson Carter of Kemp, his 3 step children Becca Wright, Lilly and Shawna Haynes and 2 step grandchildren Douglas Jr and Samara Wright of Gun Barrel City, father Gerald (Jerry) Callahan of NC, sister Clara Switzer (Callahan) of NC, sister and brother-in-law Tara and Sam Hanssard of NC, sister and brother-in-law Rosa Johnson and Fred Beard of IN, and sister Lori Rubinelli of AZ and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, extended family and friends.

A memorial service (celebration of life) will be held on Saturday August 5, 2023 at 10:00am under the direction of Moorhead Funeral Home in Gun Barrel City. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a tree or flower in his memory in your yard. He loved peach colored flowers, especially roses like his mother.
