August 21, 1940 — November 12, 2011

Surrounded by his family Byran Gene Askew peaceful went home to be with the lord and savior November 12, 2011. Born in Jackson, Tennessee August 21, 1940 to the home of Albert Byron "Boots" Askew and Florence Ovalee Hopper Askew. He was a faithful Christian, a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, loyal friend and employee. He will always be remembered by his family as a loving man who devoted his life to their well being with a strong sence of responsibility. But he felt he had to add a bit of humor or a bit of teasing to the ones close to him. When he was 3 years old his family moved to Littlefield, Texas where he graduated high school in 1959. He met the love of his life Sonya Smith; they were married July 15, 1960.Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years Sonya Smith Askew, son Randy Askew and his wife Jennifer, daughters Debbie Lynn and her husband Tim, Vicki Eubanks and her husband David, sister Kathy Feadley, 8 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.B. and Ovalee Askew, grandparents Richard and Virginia Askew, Eli and Elsie Hopper, a brother Charles Russell Askew. He enjoyed fishing, camping, water skiing, making everyone laugh, spending time playing games with family and friends. One of the greatest blessings that filled his heart was his daily reading from the bible; which strengthen his spirit. Gene was a jack of all trades; he owned a gas station at the age of 18, worked at Rainbow Baking Co., Frito Lay, K R B C T.V. station, as a siding applicator, as a ranch hand and last worked for Mabank I S D in the maintenance department. Funeral services were Wednesday November 16, 2011 at Moorhead Epps Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Tucker officiating.
