Brooxie Jeanell Thorn

September 18, 1943 — May 20, 2021

Brooxie Jeanell Thorn, 77, a child of God, was called home on May 20, 2021.  She was born on September 18, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Dave Brooks and Meda Jeanette Feazell.

Brooxie was born, raised, and lived in Texas her entire life.  She had many talents and gave 100% to the many roles she played, wife, mother, grandmother, businesswoman, and friend.  She taught school, was a loan officer, and held contracts for mowing for the City of Ft. Worth.  She could dance, drive a tractor, ride a horse, and kept her motorcycle license current.  She was a prayer warrior talking to the Lord daily, asking for protection and covering for her loved ones.

Brooxie loved the mysteries of science and medicine and researched her own homeopathic resources.  She was such a fan of history, always eager to catch the next documentary, whether it was World War II or the legacy of the African-American or the suffering of the American Indian; she had great empathy for the struggles of mankind and was a friend to the outcast, rejected, and the persecuted.  She gave her money to support the Wounded Warrior Project and the Lakota Indian schools.

She enjoyed watching the spirit of man evolve and grow and was inspired by shows like “The Mountain Men,” “Alaskan Bush People,” and “Life Below Zero.” She loved “Dog the Bounty Hunter” and was heartbroken when his wife passed.  She delighted in Harry Potter marathons and dragons, werewolves, and all things macabre.  She even had a coffin built so her grandson could “play” Dracula.

She got such joy from her little dogs, Chazz and Bella, and sang to them as she gathered them in her bed each night.

Brooxie had a fabulous style, classy with a bit of bling.  She left a little sparkle in her wake and even had eyelashes on her car.  Her favorite meal was a peanut butter sandwich and a glass of milk.  She loved fellowship and talking about the Lord and so appreciated all who called with concern, love, kind words, and prayers.

She was preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe Thorn; son Joe Billy Thorn; son-in-law Dale Hallan; step-son William Dale Thorn; and grandsons Jeremy Neely and David Hatcher.

Brooxie is survived by her brother David Michael Feazell; children Angela Dodge, Gloria Hallan, Anthony W. Thorn, Angela Ann Rendon and husband Rick, Brenda Thorn Grose and husband Johnny; and son-in-laws Dan Houston and Burke McNabb; grandchildren Melissa Garrett and husband Lloyd, Brooke Terry and husband Will, Anthony S. Thorn, Perry Hatcher and wife Kelly, Charity Neely, Jayson Hill, Charlie Houston and wife Aston, and Ana Hughes; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren include Nathanael Garrett and wife Lindsey, Beth Anne Garrett, Brookelynn Garrett, Reese Terry, Archer Terry, Lilly and Danny Houston, Nicole Lemons, Kaitlyn and Matthew Edminster, Kaycee Neely Hayford, Chloe Neely Johnston, Jaelynn Neely, Mick Neely, Jaxon Lemmons and Emma Jimenez, Bryan Daniel Hatcher and Branden Ray Hatcher, Benjamin Hughes, Jeremiah Hughes, and Mia Hughes.
