Betty Joan Stukey Fogelman

Betty was born in Galena, KS on December 10, 1931. She was the 4th of 5 children born to Howard Geisler and Enice Okle Barnard Geisler. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Phil Geisler, sisters, Juanita Darnell, Bonnie Pflug, and Ginger Wade. Betty married Leslie Dee Stukey in 1948. They had 2 sons, Larry and Gary Stukey. Their family moved from Carl Junction, MO to Nederland, TX in 1961. Dee passed away in 1974. 

 Betty married C.J. Fogleman in 1979. She moved to Kemp, TX in 1981. Betty loved their place in Kemp. She loved to work outdoors. She mowed and planted flower gardens. She kept the property looking beautiful. Betty loved her family, and she enjoyed having the grandkids come to see her. She also loved cooking for family. There was always a wonderful meal on the table. The grandkids all have a multitude of “Nanny” stories. These stories always bring smiles and laughter to every family gathering. More than all these things, she loved her Lord. We have the blessed assurance that she is with Him now. Christ’s words give us hope and comfort.

 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” John 14:1-3

She left a wonderful legacy of faith, family, and fun for her children, 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Her example will live on in our future generations.

 Betty is survived by her children, Larry Stukey and wife Dianne of Iola, TX, and Gary Stukey of Gun Barrel City, TX; her stepchildren, Caren Barnes and husband Jerry of Kemp, Cal and wife Carol of Kemp, and Carla and her husband Sidney of Dallas.

Betty is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason Stukey of Canton, Lindsey Colwill and husband Lance of Forney, TX, Jared Stukey and wife Michelle of Katy, TX, Joe Stukey and wife Marian of Pflugerville, TX, Jace Stukey and wife Amanda of Mansfield, TX, Keary Barnes and wife Kelly of Tomball, TX, Kelcey Barnes and wife Jami of Rockwall, TX, Katie Fogelman of Seven Points, TX, Laura Holubec and husband John of Grapevine, TX, Aaron Hathcock of Dallas, and Josh Hathcock and wife Charli of Dallas. She is also survived by 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

The family will gather at a later date to honor Betty’s life.
