Becky Dupree

December 30, 1960 — February 22, 2024

Athens, TX

Rebecca "Becky" Lynn Anthony, 63, passed away on February 22, 2024, in Athens, Texas. She was born on December 30, 1960, in Dallas, Texas, to parents Jerry Elmo and Betty Lou (Johnson) Dupree.

Becky Dupree, aka "The Honey Badger," when it came to her morning coffee and wake up routine, was not only a successful professional as the Manager of Pecan Ridge Golf Course in Scurry, Texas, but also a beloved friend to many. Her memory will be cherished by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She had a special talent for creating unforgettable moments, whether it was celebrating multiple Slots Jackpot winnings or embarking on exciting adventures like winning a trip to Hawaii through a Frito Lay sweepstakes and experiencing the thrill of the NFL Pro Bowl.

Our mother wasn't dealt the easiest hand. Life threw her curveball after curveball, yet she never faltered in her love and devotion to her children. We were her constant, the reason that fire in her eyes never truly dimmed.

Though her life may have been marked by difficulties, her heart was woven with pure gold. It was a heart that overflowed with fierce love for her family. She would sacrifice anything, go to any length, to ensure our happiness and well-being. Her love wasn't always soft and gentle; sometimes it came wrapped in sternness, a firm hand guiding us when we strayed, her voice a compass directing us through life's storms.

Beyond her love for us, there was another passion that brought her solace: the serenity of the water. She found peace with a rod in her hand, casting a line into the rippling canvas of the lake. In the gentle tug of the tide, she found a moment of quiet joy, a respite from the world's troubles. But her kindness wasn't confined to just her family. Her heart extended beyond the human sphere, embracing all creatures in need. From the stray cat seeking shelter to the injured bird fallen from its nest, she wouldn't hesitate to lend a helping hand. In her eyes, every living thing deserved a chance, a flicker of empathy that shone brightly in her soul.

Our mother may be gone, but her legacy lives on. She taught us the meaning of resilience, the power of unwavering love, and the importance of compassion. We carry her spirit within us, a constant reminder of the extraordinary woman who shaped our lives. And whenever we hear the gentle lapping of water, we'll picture her, casting not just a line, but a legacy of love and kindness that will forever ripple outwards.

Becky is preceded in death by her daughter who passed at birth, Heather Dawn Anthony.

Becky is survived by her sister, Kathy Chewning; son, Devin Dupree; daughter, Amanda Jones; and grandson, Gabriel Jones whom she loving called “her little buster brown.”
