Barry Rudd

Barry Rudd, age 66, passed away on February 23, 2025, in Athens, Texas. He was born on June 18, 1958, in Dallas, Texas to parents Floyd and Oneda (Hensley) Rudd.

Barry was a retired engineer known for his outgoing personality and a great sense of humor. He was a joyful presence in the lives of those who knew him.

Barry was a dedicated family man, always putting his loved ones first. His proudest accomplishments included raising his children, marrying his wife, and becoming a grandfather. He took great joy in watching his grandkids play drums on his bald head, an image that captures his playful spirit and enduring love for his family.

With a background in engineering, Barry honed his skills in electronics at Richland College, and he carried that ingenuity into various projects throughout his life. One of his passions was building model trains. Barry was building a huge model train table at the time of his passing, a testament to his love of trains and a hobby that brought him immense joy.

A natural jokester, Barry delighted in the art of teasing and telling jokes, especially to his children. His comedic flair made family gatherings lively and memorable, as he would often be the center of laughter. Alongside his love for family, he was a big football fan.

Barry was not just a family man; he was also a friend who brought warmth and support to everyone around him. His caring and loving nature made him a source of comfort and joy, earning him a special place in the hearts of many.

Barry is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Oneda Rudd; brother, Stephen Rudd; granddaughter, Kiya Mathison; stepdaughter, Paige Hill, and mother-in-law, Tammy Johnson.

Barry is survived by his wife, Tina Rudd of Athens, Texas; daughter, Tearany Mathison of Gun Barrel City, Texas; daughter, Patricia McGowen of Mabank, Texas; daughter, Amy Rudd of Sherman, Texas; son, Garrett Rudd of Howe, Texas; granddaughter, Arya McGowen of Mabank, Texas; grandson, Levi Mathison of Gun Barrel City, Texas; granddaughter, Kaydance McGowen of Mabank, Texas; grandson, Samuel McGowen of Mabank, Texas; grandson, Wyatt Milner of Sherman, Texas; granddaughter, Corra McGowen of Mabank, Texas; as well as numerous other family, friends, and loved ones.
